A Sea Dream

by Taylor Chan

p. 35, Issue 01

When I first saw this photo, I thought that it was a window, not a mirror. In a way, I suppose it is; it's a window into the woman hiding behind it, and as the title suggests, what she's dreaming of. I have a habit of making up stories to go along with the photographs or paintings that I see, and I came up with about a hundred for this one.

Keri Karandrakis, Editor in Chief

I love the surrealism in this artwork. The artist has carefully manipulated the image so that it is both an interior and an exterior, and contains a human form that doesn't look as we expect it to. And the greys, soft pinks, and blues convey the stillness of the piece and make it a pleasure to look at.
